The Jeopardy Machine

I had worked for many years as a technician and specialize in electronics. To teach electronics, I had my fifth graders build a Jeopardy machine. Later, we held a school-wide tournament.

Full-size Hot Air Balloons

When teaching the science of flight, I incorporate building and flying a full-size hot air balloon.

Night Photography

I used to own a business that specialized in long-exposure, low-light or night photography. I brought my equipment to the classroom and the students created their own pictures "in the dark."

Photojournalism

I received a grant to buy cameras for the students to document their families, homes, and hobbies.

The Age of Discovery Game

A board game I developed to teach the age of exploration. Students roll play and incorporate strategies and tactics to “reveal” the new world. As students cross the Atlantic, they move ships to spots on the board that are covered with cardboard. The students then lift cardboard pieces to reveal something new about the world they are “discovering.”
